That next week, we held two more clinics, seeing 125 patients during one and 151 during the last, if my memory serves me correctly.

The people were very grateful.

**Disclaimer** While I don't find the following pictures gross, take that with a grain of salt, as I am a nurse. Some of the following pictures might be too much for some, so feel free to skip this part if needed.

Toward the end of one of our clinics, a middle-aged lady approached the clinic on foot to be seen. She was in her 40s, and she suffered from leprosy, a chronic bacterial infection which can cause disfiguration. Leprosy is treatable and she stated she had been treated, but she'd had leprosy for almost 20 years I believe, and looking at her one wondered how appropriate or thorough the treatment had been. She was missing fingers and toes, and had large wounds in the bottom of her feet, one of which went to the bone. She had been told she needed to have an amputation, but she didn't want one. The stench was strong, and her wounds were covered in flies.

Hard to look at, but sometimes I think it's good for us to look at things like this to give us a sense of compassion and a desire to help those who are suffering.

As can be imagined, these were infected and painful, so we gave her pain medication and antibiotics, but ultimately this wouldn't solve the physical problem here- she needed an amputation. However, I decided to do my best to clean and bandage her wounds, which were quite dirty.

While I did this, which probably took at least 20 minutes, I had a translator tell her about the gospel. We told her about Christ, who loved her and came to earth long ago, to live a sinless life, to serve, who even healed leprosy, and who died for everyone's sin, so they could be forgiven and spend eternity with Him when they died, where they would have perfect, disease-free bodies. We told her how we have to believe in Jesus as our Savior and ask for forgiveness of our sins.

"Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved..." ~ Acts 16:31.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." ~John 3:16

She said she had never heard this before.

"How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" ~Romans 10:14.

She left that day with things to think about and decisions to make regarding not only her physical state, but also her spiritual state.

I, on the other hand, went to bed with my own things to think about...

"How will they believe in Christ if they have never heard of Him?"
